CalWomenTech Project Partner Meeting September 18, 2009

Our annual CalWomenTech Project Partner meeting has been scheduled for September 18th, 2009 at the Four Points Sheraton in Emeryville, CA from 8:30am to 5:00pm. The meeting is for the 8 community colleges in the CalWomenTech Project and will give you an opportunity to share and celebrate your successes as well as discuss your challenges and problem solve with other member sites of the CalWomenTech project. We will be bringing in at least one content expert and will be using the information gathered by our outside evaluators to customize the event to fit your preferences. In addition, our evaluator will present on our project evaluation to date. There will also be a reception the night before on September 17th from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. It will be a casual event with hors d'oeuvres and a no host bar.

Registration Required - Online

Visit this link to register via Survey Monkey. Registration for this event is required to attend and for expense reimbursement. It is very important that we get an accurate head count so that we can properly plan for the event. Please register for this event by May 8th, as space is limited to 45 participants. We will confirm your registration by May 29th.

Hotel Reservations

To make hotel reservations please call the Four Points Sheraton at (510) 547-7888 by July 18th and say you are with the CalWomenTech group. Our discounted rate is $109 per night which will be billed to our master account. We also require that you make your plane reservations by August 18th to ensure a reasonable cost (we won't be able to reimburse people for high priced plane tickets due to last minute booking). If you make hotel reservations but cannot attend please cancel your reservation and let us know immediately. You will be personally responsible for charges incurred from unused hotel rooms.

Travel Reimbursement

We will be reimbursing you for your travel expenses within one week after the meeting. If you are coming from Southern California we will reimburse you for a hotel room for one night, airfare, your meals based on your flight arrival and departure time and the federal per diem rate as well as ground transportation to and from the airport. For those people in Northern California we will reimburse you for your mileage, based on the federal mileage rate of $0.55 per mile, your working lunch during the training and if your drive is longer then one hour from home we will include a hotel room at your request.

Directions from Airport to Meeting Hotel

By Shuttle

From Oakland Airport Shuttle service is available from Oakland International Airport via Bay Porter Express Shuttle or 1-510-864-4000 for approximately $25 each way.

From San Francisco International Airport Those arriving from San Francisco International Airport can arrange for transportation through the Bay Porter Express Shuttle or 1-510-864-4000 for approximately $29 each way.

By Taxi

From Oakland Airport Taxi service is available in front of the baggage claim for approximately $50. Because of the high cost we ask that you only take a taxi if you are sharing it with multiple people.

From San Francisco Airport Taxi service is available in front of the baggage claim for approximately $70. Because of the high cost we ask that you only take a taxi if you are sharing it with multiple people.

Rental Cars

IWITTS asks that you only rent a car if there will be multiple people from one school in it. In addition, please make sure to reserve an economy class car.

Closest Airport

Both the San Francisco and Oakland airports are close to the hotel. The Oakland airport is an easier, less busy airport than SF International and is preferred by many local residents.

Adjunct Faculty

It is up to the school's discretion if they would like to utilize their CalWomenTech adjunct staff development budget allocation towards reimbursement of adjunct salary costs to attend this meeting. This budget can only be used for adjunct staff members.

If you are an adjunct instructor, check with your key leader to see if you are eligible for payment of non-classroom hours. If you are eligible, you will need to fill out a W-9 form and return it to the CalWomenTech Project. W-9 forms are available at the IRS website, as a PDF.
