Strategies that work! Our one-day WomenTech train-the-trainer programs help states and local communities prepare women and girls for technology careers. With a combination of interactive video, case studies, online web browsing and short PowerPoint lecture presentations, you get an exciting and extremely informative session, plus everything you need to know to educate others. And, since the bulk of the workshop is done in small groups, it's also a great opportunity to interact with and learn from others in your field.
Conducted by our experienced and dynamic statewide trainer, Ede Slovin, known for her wonderful sense of humor, this fast-paced interactive one-day workshop helps technology instructors, school administrators, school-to-career coordinators, math and science teachers, equity coordinators and counselors to:
- Develop a plan for recruiting women and girls to traditionally male-dominated classes that you can put to use right away. Covers both high school and community college recruitment strategies.
- Work through case studies with colleagues on retention problems that arise in classes where the number of female students is small. Help female students withstand negative peer pressure and connect with female role models.
Sponsors for these stand-alone, train-the-trainer sessions include:
- Advanced Technology Education Projects/Centers
- State and County Education Departments
- Community Colleges
- School-to-Career Programs
- Tech-Prep Consortiums
- Vocational Equity Coordinators
- Nonprofits
- Collaborative partnerships
Because we want to reach as many people as possible with our educational materials, we offer deep discounts on our WomenTech Educator publications for training attendees.
Two-day training, technology focus: We can bring our in-depth two-day training, presented by Karen Wosczyna-Birch, to your state. This longer training includes an additional full module specifically geared to recruiting women and girls to Technology, as well as time to develop a detailed recruitment and retention plan. Make girl geeks cool in your school; help (some) female students overcome their fear of breaking the computer; excite and engage female students in technology by teaching to their learning style.
